There is no direct evidence that the details here refer to the same Robert Blues who went to Westoe Secondary School, but the relatively unusual name suggests that it is likely.

Robert Blues was the son of joiner, Robert Blues, and his wife Agnes.

It is unknown when he attended Westoe Secondary School, but by the age of 15 he had left to be a telephone operator.

Robert joined up in Newcastle and served with the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action whilst fighting in Flanders on 23-Oct-1918, and is memorialised in the Vis-en-Artois memorial, in the Pas-de-Calais, just a little south-east of Arras.
