Harold Snaith was the son of WIlliam James Snaith, foreman blacksmith in the shipyards, and his wife Elizabeth.

Harold joined the High School from Mortimer Road Elementry on a Corporation Scholarship at the age of 12 and left at the age of 16, on a "clerkship" with the Bank of Liverpool, in Sunderland.

He joined the 34th Battalion of the London Regiment, and is also shown as serving with the Bedfordshire Regiment as a rifleman. He was serving with the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Regiment when de died on 6-Sep-1918 of wounds received.

He is buried in the Pernes British Cemetery.
